Jamal Sealey, Executive Assistant to the President and CEO
- How would you describe the relationship between NVC and its Board Members?
With a staff of eleven talented professionals, NVC relies a great deal on its experienced Board members to provide insights, guidance, and leadership for its mission. By working closely with our Board, we make sure we prioritize activities and initiatives that are important to them and in turn to the greater membership. Our Board members are all fascinating leaders with whom we have cultivated meaningful relationships.
- What role does the Strategic Leadership Board of Advisors (SLBA) play in your work with the Board, and how do you engage with them?
The SLBA is comprised of past and present Board members as well as other members of NVC. Their work together helps shape the priorities that they advise the Board to focus on each year. By holding regular meetings with the SLBA throughout the year, more frequently during the Spring, we make sure that all voices are heard and acknowledged when formulating recommendations.
- What do you enjoy most about working closely with members during the notarization or certificate of origin process?
Many of our members require timely certification for international shipments or other documents. By scheduling appointments to offer this complimentary service, I relish the opportunity to guide them through the process and support their business operations. As a notary public and an officer of the Commonwealth of Virginia, I perform these duties with diligence and both personal and professional pride.
- What’s something members might not know about you?
One enduring memory from my childhood is of my grandfather, who was a notary public and often assisted customers at home. It fills me with pride in continuing this family tradition while serving NVC’s membership.
