As NVC celebrates its remarkable centennial, we invite you to a milestone event on June 3 that honors 100 years of regional leadership while looking ahead to the future: the 2025 Annual Members’ Meeting.
This year’s meeting is more than a gathering — it’s a celebration of the people and partnerships that have helped shape Greater Washington into the thriving economic and civic powerhouse it is today. At the heart of the event are two of our most prestigious honors, recognizing members whose leadership continues to transform our region.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals whose sustained leadership and volunteer service have left a lasting mark on the business community. This year, we proudly recognize Scott McGeary, Retired Director of State Public Policy at Washington Gas. Over 26 years, Scott has played a pivotal role in shaping regional energy policy and championing civic engagement. His accolades include induction into the Arlington Business Hall of Fame and Virginia FREE’s Advocacy Award, and he has served on numerous influential boards across the region.
“We’ve watched the region grow tremendously over the years — and with that growth, the Chamber’s role has grown as well,” said McGeary. “I believe the Chamber has been involved in every major public policy issue throughout its history, and many of its leaders have been true titans in our community. I’ve been very blessed to be involved with the Chamber since 1986, and some of my favorite moments have been seeing it take bold leadership on so many important issues.”
The Impact Award for Workforce celebrates transformative contributions to the region’s talent pipeline. We are honored to present this year’s award to Dr. Anne Kress, President of Northern Virginia Community College. A nationally recognized leader in workforce development, Dr. Kress has dedicated over 30 years to expanding access to equitable education and career opportunities for more than 70,000 students. Her policy expertise has informed national workforce strategy, and she continues to guide the region’s economic growth through her leadership on key industry boards.
“I couldn’t be more proud to lead and serve at Northern Virginia Community College. We have such a long history of innovation — partnering with businesses and industries to support workforce development and help students find real pathways to opportunity,” said Dr. Kress. “NOVA is proud to be a part of NVC, because NVC is Northern Virginia. It brings together the incredible employers who drive our region’s success, higher education institutions like ours, and vital social service providers. By setting the table like that — and more importantly, listening to and amplifying those voices — NVC drives the region forward. Especially during a time of disruption, NVC helps our region reimagine itself for what’s next.”
